Fall 2010 Newsletter

FALL 2010

Buckle yourself in. Gird your loins. Tighten the harness. Grin and bear it… it's summer in NY. Lounge around with a tall glass of anything cold and think cool, good thoughts; like what classes you're going to take at Sew Materialistic.
I find it hard to do any real work during the hot months of summer, but oh, do I have a head full of plans for the cooler weather! We’ve come up with so many new classes that there isn't enough time in the week, so we had to put off some for the really cold days of winter- they're coming too, you know.
My favorite pick:
Although I have tried many different fusible webs, I always come back to Wonder-Under, a two-step web (and no, that's not dancing on the internet). I always keep a bolt at home because I never know when the muse will strike. Come in for a free demo with Malke.
New items in stock:
* We are expecting new gift items forthat perfect quilter in your life- it can be YOU… you are worth it!
The Infomercial:
My Mitered Corner Method: instead of coming down where the fold is, exactly even with the edge of the quilt, sew with a 1/16 of an inch over the quilt edge. Next, iron the binding away from the body of the quilt, but not the mitered corner. Fold the binding over the back of the quilt, finish as desired and the mitered edge will fall exactly into place.
We will now be having scrap baskets. Fill the quart size bags for $3 each. It’s like quilting candy: all you can stash, but no calories! YUM!
Midnight Madness is back! Mark your calendars for Sat. Dec. 11, from 7 pm to 7 am. See class list for more details.
We’ve been busy planning our next Quilt Shop Hop to Southern Connecticut. Our last one to Southern NJ was a big success, so don’t miss out on this trip! Please call or check out class list for details.
We now offer demonstrations for schools and organizations; everyone will leave with a
finished project. Please call Malke for details.
Looking for something new for your party or affair? Sew Materialistic will be offering Party Workshops! Participants will make an age appropriate project. Please call Yehudis for details and mention ‘party’ @ 718-338-6104.
We’ve finally joined the times and now have a Facebook page! Please become our friend ☺!
You’ll find updates to our NEW Monthly Drawing on Malke’s blog (www.thequilter.wordpress.com), as well other Sew Materialistic news and nonsense…

HAPPY AND HEALTHY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!
From all of us,
Malke, Blima, Lena, and all the Teaches

P.S. Never trust a weatherperson unless you
know he/she has a window.
